Letter From CEO and Founder

Letter from CEO and Founder:

To the Man or Woman on the ground,

My name is Mark Christopher Blair (on left in picture), formerly Sgt Blair of the United States Marine Corps. I served as an intelligence specialist (0231 & 0311) for the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion and the 3rd Marine Division General’s Staff. Additionally I am a graduate of the Mercyhurst College Institute for Intelligence Studies (MCIIS.org) and hold a degree in psychology from Mercyhurst College. I am no salesman… everyone tells me so. Although I cannot sell you a 1978 Pinto at $500 over bluebook, I can bring to bear, upon the decision dilemmas you face in the execution of your duties and responsibilities, the most forward leaning, advanced intelligence techniques to reduce uncertainty in your environment.

Shortly after joining 3rd Recon Bn I produced an extensive intelligence product for Marines getting ready for a training mission. I had answered every question I could think of down to the daily rations, morale, weaponry, training, etc of the enemy. After presenting my analysis to a Recon team, a salty Lance Corporal stood up and unceremoniously demanded, “What does the ground sound like?” A moment of silence ensued as I tried to ascertain the meaning of this. He again, in a condescending tone demanded, “When I step on the ground… what noise does it make?” My first natural response was to correct the subordinate Marine for speaking to me in such a manner; however, intrigued by my failure to anticipate this question, I made a decision that would characterize my intelligence career. I responded, “Sit down Marine… and tell me more!” In later missions as I accompanied Recon teams in the field I further honed my understanding of what “the guy on the ground” needs. My focus in my intelligence work has never shifted away from the man and/or woman on the ground… the frontline responder… the man or woman in harms way. Even when producing large scale strategic intelligence I have always ensured that my intelligence can be easily translated into actions that help individuals get closer to desired goals.

I built the Defense Analyst’s Generic Intelligence Requirements Company (DAGIR Co.) based on this philosophy. I have collected some of today’s most talented and experienced analysts with diverse backgrounds from military intelligence, national security, information technology, to crime scene investigation. Professionals have a purpose, Marines want to prosecute the enemy, law enforcement professionals want to bust criminals, social workers want to protect their clients, what they don’t want to do is comb through endless streams of data and information, 90% of which is extraneous and useless. They don’t want to deal with unnecessary uncertainty; they need the right information, in the right context, at the right time. Most professionals don’t have the benefit of a full intelligence task force to support them. Therefore, finding and evaluating information from the lowest levels of survey and collections to the highest level of in-the-field decision-making falls solely on their shoulders. DAGIR Co.’s mission is to keep the professional in the field doing what only they can do, and keep them from doing what a support staff should do for them back at the office. DAGIR Co. Analytics are specifically designed to bring the most advanced intelligence analysis decision support within the financial and realistic reach of the today’s professional.

Respectfully Submitted,
