Here at DAGIR Co., we’re excited about what we’re calling the St. Paul Church 10-21 Project, our pro bono law enforcement intelligence/crime analysis project. The Project is exciting not just because it’s an opportunity to use our tools and expertise to give back to the community, and not just because it’s showcasing our cutting-edge law enforcement tools, but also for its potential to test new approaches to corporate business intelligence and competitive intelligence.

We’ve quickly integrated a database with a GIS and our proprietary interface to make geographic and temporal pattern analysis more accessible. Within a corporation, this approach is useful for analysts researching both the internal analytics, operations, benchmarks, etc… of the company, as well as those conducting competitor research. We’ve also created a wiki to facilitate information sharing among far-flung analysts. This is especially useful to facilitate communication across corporate departments and “silos,” as multiple participants from around the company and around the world update the information sections.

If you explore the St. Paul Church 10-21 Project wiki, you’ll find we’ve also integrated Google Spreadsheet Documents. This allows participants to share data in a controlled format so it can update the GIS. As with any wiki, all changes are tracked and saved, so if we encounter malicious behavior (vandalism, etc..) we can easily restore the system to the last iteration before the “assault.”

There are other features we can include, but chose not to here because it was not appropriate given the audience or project restrictions. For instance, we have the capacity to integrate the wiki and the GIS into a single site, hosted on the client’s servers. Do you need access controls? Not a problem. Is your customer or competitor data infinitely more complex? Great! The more complex the data, the more we feel like kids in a candy store.

For law enforcement agencies seeking a secure version of this project, or for corporate clients seeking a version specific to their Business Analysis or Competitive Intelligence functions, please feel free to contact us. You’ll find a team of seasoned professionals with the expertise to efficiently and effectively meet your mandate.

Thank you,

DAGIR CO. SETS SIGHTS ON CHURCH BURGLARIES
Intelligence Firm Creates Analytic Tools To Fight St Paul Crimes

There’s a new force helping to solve the recent spate of St. Paul, MN church burglaries. In the past year, 83 churches in St. Paul have been burglarized, and most of these crimes remain unsolved. In response, a public effort is underway on the Internet to “crowdsource” analysis of these perplexing crimes in hopes that thousands of fresh minds will find something new. A young intelligence firm called DAGIR Co. has responded to this crowd sourcing effort with two powerful tools.

Company executives have adapted one of their law enforcement tools (the Geospatial Serial-Crime Analysis Tool—GSAT) to this particular crime series, and opened it to public use for free at http://www.dagirco.com/church. This permits members of the general public to search for patterns in the crime data. DAGIR Co. has also created a public wiki for the project at http://stpaulchurch10-21.wikispaces.com, allowing collaboration and analysis from around the world. This pro bono project presents a terrific opportunity for students, concerned citizens, neighborhood and civic leaders, as well as analysts and academics from around the world to more coherently organize and co-ordinate their efforts.

Says CEO Mark Blair, “When we heard the SPPD was forward-thinking and innovative enough to release this data allowing the public to make an active contribution to law enforcement, we were eager to contribute our tools and experience to this project. Our focus has always been to produce tools for frontline personnel and the analysts who support frontline personnel.”

DAGIR Co. is an intelligence analysis firm located in Erie, PA. The company is devoted to supporting frontline personnel by creating cutting edge analysis tools “for analysts, by analysts.” DAGIR Co. helps law enforcement agencies address today’s pressing issues (such as their proven success in identifying methamphetamine labs), but has also successfully leveraged its technologies into other fields, such as advertising.

To the man or woman on the ground,

DAGIR Co. maintains a large body of information on the types of issues that affect you and the execution of your professional duties. We are grateful for the input that many experts and authorities have conferred on DAGIR Co. As an intelligence organization DAGIR Co. understands that the collaboration of professionals tackling similar problems is one of the most powerful tools for interdicting the dilemmas that face our world. Moreover, if we fail to bridge gaps between different disciplines such as intelligence analysis, psychology, law enforcement, etc, we risk falling victim to problems other disciplines have solved, such as cognitive biases. It is one of our greatest endeavors to provide a bridge and forum for professionals of many different disciplines and areas of expertise to share information that can enhance efforts to combat problems that face our country, and our world. As one mode of communication we offer this blog. If you have questions or topics you wish more information on, please feel free to activate the DAGIR Co. network of experts. DAGIR Co. will strive to reach the experts who can shed both perspective and light on your dilemma or area of interest.

Best Regards,
