The St. Paul Church 10-21 Project & Competitive Intelligence

Here at DAGIR Co., we’re excited about what we’re calling the St. Paul Church 10-21 Project, our pro bono law enforcement intelligence/crime analysis project.  The Project is exciting not just because it’s an opportunity to use our tools and expertise to give back to the community, and not just because it’s showcasing our cutting-edge law enforcement tools, but also for its potential to test new approaches to corporate business intelligence and competitive intelligence.

We’ve quickly integrated a database with a GIS and our proprietary interface to make geographic and temporal pattern analysis more accessible.  Within a corporation, this approach is useful for analysts researching both the internal analytics, operations, benchmarks, etc… of the company, as well as those conducting competitor research.  We’ve also created a wiki to facilitate information sharing among far-flung analysts.  This is especially useful to facilitate communication across corporate departments and “silos,” as multiple participants from around the company and around the world update the information sections.

If you explore the St. Paul Church 10-21 Project wiki, you’ll find we’ve also integrated Google Spreadsheet Documents.  This allows participants to share data in a controlled format so it can update the GIS.  As with any wiki, all changes are tracked and saved, so if we encounter malicious behavior (vandalism, etc..) we can easily restore the system to the last iteration before the “assault.”

There are other features we can include, but chose not to here because it was not appropriate given the audience or project restrictions.  For instance, we have the capacity to integrate the wiki and the GIS into a single site, hosted on the client’s servers.  Do you need access controls?  Not a problem.  Is your customer or competitor data infinitely more complex?  Great!  The more complex the data, the more we feel like kids in a candy store.

For law enforcement agencies seeking a secure version of this project, or for corporate clients seeking a version specific to their Business Analysis or Competitive Intelligence functions, please feel free to contact us.  You’ll find a team of seasoned professionals with the expertise to efficiently and effectively meet your mandate.
